Healthplex Sports Medicine Physicians

The Healthplex® Sports Club’s wellness programs are designed to help you bridge the gap between your hospital-based outpatient treatment and your return to an independent exercise program.

Our programs are led by exercise specialists in consultation with other medical professionals. Wellness programs meet the requirements of the American College of Sports Medicine and are approved by the Healthplex® Medical Advisory Board.

To ensure that you can safely participate, we require a referral from your doctor or other health care provider before you begin. Your doctor will receive progress reports on a regular basis.

Aqua Wellness Classes

Aqua Arthritis

Members of this class meet several times a week in our warm-water therapy pool with trained and certified instructors who provide a friendly, supportive environment. Recreational exercises are especially designed to offer relief from pain and stiffness for people with arthritis. Participation in this class helps improve your joint flexibility and strength with the aid of the water’s buoyancy and resistance. The instructor is certified to teach the class through the Arthritis Foundation and is CPR-certified through the American Heart Association.

Aqua Easy

This one-hour, low-impact class is designed for people with orthopedic injuries, neuromuscular disorders and limited exercise capacity. It improves strength and flexibility using the resistance and buoyancy of the water. Sessions meet in our warm-water therapy pool with exercises modified to meet the specific needs of our participants. Aqua Easy meets several times per week. The instructor is certified to teach this aqua exercise program through the Aquatic Exercise Association and is CPR-certified through the American Heart Association.

Aqua Fibromyalgia

After giving participants a balance assessment, the instructor will create a fitness program comprised of both cardiovascular and strength-training exercises to fit the participant’s needs and goals.

Strength for Life

This one-hour strength and flexibility class is designed for new exercisers and older adults.

Tai Chi

This ancient Chinese form of exercise uses slow, even movements to relax your body and mind and improve your balance, breathing and mobility.

Healthy Living/Aquatic Class Combination

This supervised class, held on the fitness floor, is designed for people with your choice of an aquatic class.

CPR Certification Course

The course, which is an American Heart Association basic life support health care provider course, is designed to teach CPR for use on infants, children, and adults. Moms in Motion

Moms in Motion is a unique program that allows moms-to-be and new mothers to participate in supervised exercise classes. Both land-based and aquatic classes are available to help women remain fit during and after giving birth. Classes are tailored to the special needs of each mom-to-be and mother, and participants can bond with other women going through the same experiences. Participation requires written permission from a physician or midwife.
